Top 5 Sugar-Free Treats to Avoid Inflammation [2023]
Table of contents
When looking after our hair and our health, there is always a point when we come to the realisation that eating lots of sugar is hindering our progress rather than helping it.
Therefore, we start to look for ways in which we can reduce our sugar intake so we can ultimately reduce our inflammation levels, and we can improve our hair, skin and overall beauty.
Alternative options can be hard to find, especially when they are often packed full of artificial sweeteners, which really aren’t that great for you in high quantities either.
So, what can we do? Giving up sugar completely is incredibly difficult. Even though the health benefits are great, I’m sure many of us would feel our quality of life has been reduced without a sweet treat once in a while… or is that just me?
Nevertheless, I am sure you are wondering what sugar-free treats are better than others and why. Well, much of the time, it is all about looking at which sweeteners are used, how much of them are used and how often you plan to consume the product.
You see, not all sweeteners are made equal, and some can lead to nasty side effects (like bloating and diarrhoea) when consumed in large quantities, which I am sure you are hoping to avoid.
Our favourites include Xylitol and Erythritol since they are both derived from natural sources. Stevia is also natural and pretty common in sugar-free products, however not everyone likes the taste, so it doesn't work for everyone.
None of these is completely void of the side effects mentioned above, which is why it is important to still eat them in moderation, but there are some benefits.
For example, Xylitol has been found to help modulate the immune system and improve bone mineral density… so not all is lost! Anyway, let’s get into some of the tasty sugar-free treats that we have found for you!
