Struggle No More: Hair that Rises and Shines!
What hair problems did you struggle with before you joined the Challenge? How did it make you feel?
My hair has always been a struggle: brittleness, breakage, dry strands, greasy scalp, dullness, and frizz… a mess! I know it's a stereotype to think that women need beautiful and long hair, but my hair always made me feel less feminine and less beautiful than other girls. I always thought that if I could fix my hair then I would feel much more confident.
What made you decide to join? Do you remember the particular moment when you made the decision to do this for yourself?
I found out about the 14 Day Haircare Challenge on Instagram. At first, I thought it was a scam, but I was entering a super-heavy exam session at university and I thought that having something fun to do in the evenings would motivate me. When it started, I realized that it was definitely a real thing and that at last, I would go into the core of my hair issues. I loved it!
What results have you seen since implementing the learnings? How does it make you feel?
I believe in long-term change. I haven’t had any drastic changes and that is the way it should be because natural treatments take time and I only started implementing about a month ago. If I wanted fast change I would get a perm. My hair has been more voluminous and shiny though. Plus, I just feel amazing about having a routine and making my own shampoo.
What areas of the Challenge made the biggest difference for you? How did it feel to have a community to be part of?
I wouldn’t talk about a specific area but more about the whole. This Challenge is all about understanding that your hair issues are not a single problem that you can solve with a single product. You can implement so many different things into your routine, however, the most changing for me has been the DIY shampoo and the sulfate/silicone lesson. Having the Community has helped me get additional tips and tricks.
What is the next goal/milestone you would like to reach with your hair?
My main goal is to eliminate the brittleness and get smooth and silky hair so that I can wear it down all of the time!
